The Hijack of Boeing One documentary production is planned in 1 hour broadcast and 90minute feature length versions with a sell-thru DVD option.
The Hijack of Boeing One documentary draws on over ten years of pre-production work undertaken by John Earnshaw for his documentary “The Search For Boeing One” and dates back to the early ‘80s when John Earnshaw teamed up with writer/producer David Tossman and technical director Gary French to form Mallard Productions Limited to produce this film. You can learn more about Boeing One and the mystery of its disappearance HERE.
Filming for John Earnshaw’s “The Search For Boeing One” started in the mid 1980s and continued to the early 1990s. The production was finally abandoned in 1993 when, after frustrating Earnshaw’s project for four years, officials within the Department of Conservation, which controlled the primary filming locations, began conspiring with a rival production company to plagiarize Earnshaw’s work.
Over 10 years of Earnshaw’s research, together with his documentary concept was ’hijacked’. From these events came the inspiration for Jon Smyth’s: “The Hijack of Boeing One”.
In 2001, after a devastating high court judgment that ‘legitimized’ years of conniving and official abuse of statutory power from within the departments of Defence and Conservation, Smyth began filming content for what was now a story about the “hijack” of Earnshaw’s work and the machinations behind the sabotage of “The Search for Boeing One”.
The Hijack of Boeing One documentary is ready for post production to begin and post production funding is sought from interested sponsors and / or venture partners.
A feature film script based on the book version of The Hijack of Boeing One is also being considered.
